Does the Best Vodka Come from Eastern Europe?

Vodka 7513915

Does the Best Vodka Come from Eastern Europe, is the title of the debate from the Christmas 2019 issue of Waitrose Drinks magazine, and The Vodka Guy says No!

I’ve written for the last few issues of the excellent Waitrose Drinks magazine, which is available free in branches of the upscale UK supermarket chain, Waitrose. I was delighted the editor asked me to join in their Christmas 2019 issue’s great debate, on whether or not the best vodkas still come from Eastern Europe.

I was happy to argue the case against that, because although many great vodkas still do come from Eastern Europe, including Russia of course, I think the best vodkas come from all over the world, including England. I was also able to do brief reviews of some of my favourite vodkas to round the piece off, including Black Cow, Chase, and trailblazers like Grey Goose and Absolut.

Arguing the case in favour of Eastern European vodkas was the distinguished and award-winning drinks writer Alice Lascelles. You can see what we both had to say, and learn what Alice rates as the best vodkas from Eastern Europe and Russia, by clicking on the image of the magazine’s cover here.
