Moscow Mule
The Moscow Mule is one of the easiest and most popular vodka cocktails in the world. It’s traditionally made in a copper mug, though you can use a highball glass as well. Copper is popular as it absorbs the coldness of the ice and keeps the cocktail colder for longer.
The Moscow Mule is a cocktail to experiment with, as it very much depends on your personal taste. If you like spice then use a strong ginger beer. If you just like a hint of ginger use more vodka. If you really like ginger, then use a ginger vodka.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz vodka
- 0.75 oz lime juice
- Ginger beer
- Lime slice for garnish
Instructions
Put several ice cubes in the base of your mug or glass. Add the vodka and lemonade, and then top with ginger beer to taste.
Notes
The Moscow Mule cocktail is sometimes also called a Vodka Buck. There are also numerous variations substituting other spirits for the vodka. Use tequila and you’ve made a Mexico Mule, use bourbon and you have a Kentucky Mule. Rum goes well with ginger beer too, and I’ve even seen a Moscow Mule made with gin – not something I’ve tried yet.
